An earthquake is a vibration or shocks that occur in the earth's surface due to release a sudden energy that creates seismic waves. And an earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale (SR) that occurs in Subulussalam, Aceh on the morning of 6 September 2011 has resulted in damage to several public facilities.
Subulussalam city secretary, H. Damhuri, mentions that there are 12 school units, 4 units health centers, and three bridges damaged. As a form of concern, then 5 days after the quake, the city government to provide assistance with direct Subulussalam provides 84 workers to do school improvement, and 28 workers to make improvements and puskesdes health centers, and 30 workers to do repair damage to the bridge. If 5 workers can complete the job for two weeks for each unit of public facilities were damaged. Then, how long repairs could be done at each facility were damaged?

Answer :

#   12 schools

Number of workers = 84 : 12 = 7 workers for one unit of school.

Number of workers
Time
5
2 weeks ( 14 days )
7
p

The multiplication results of each row should be the similar, so we have an inverse proportion as follows :
         5 x 14 = 7 x p
<=>  p =  5 x 14  = 10
                   7
It is conclude that it can be done in 10 days for one unit of school.

#  4 health centers

Number of workers = 28 : 4 = 7 workers for one unit of health center.

Number of workers
Time
5
2 weeks ( 14 days )
7
q

The multiplication results of each raw should be the similar, so we have an inverse proportion as follows :
         5 x 14 = 7 x q
<=>  q =  5 x 14  = 10
                   7
It is conclude that it can be done in 10 days for one unit of health center.

#   3 bridges

Number of workers = 30 : 3 = 10 workers for one unit of bridge.

Number of workers
Time
5
2 weeks ( 14 days )
10
z

The multiplication results of each raw should be the similar, so we have an inverse proportion as follows :
         5 x 14 = 7 x z
<=>  z =  5 x 14  = 7
                  10
It is conclude that it can be done in 7 days for one unit of bridge.

Usaha Guru Dalam Meningkatkan Minat Siswa
Mempelajari Matematika
By Dr. Marsigit, M. A

It is inevitable that we often find students experiencing difficulties in learning mathematics. This suggests that teaching mathematics is also not easy, because there is no best way to teach mathematics.
The constraints experienced by teachers are as follows:
·      dealing with differences in their students' abilities,
·      encourage active student learning,
·      develop mathematical learning technology,
and difficulties experienced by teachers that is the presence of high achievement target NEM and the completion of the syllabus. Two of these factors cause the teacher seemed not to have another alternative in teaching mathematics. From the constraints and difficulties experienced by the teacher that makes students less like math. Therefore, teachers need to understand better the nature of mathematics and the nature of students' learning of mathematics.
As for who should be done so that students like math lesson some of them:
·      a change in the model teacher-centered learning where students are passive, turned into a model student-centered learning and the student who plays an active role,
·      a change in paradigm that learning mathematics is not to be a liability, but to be an awareness and demand,
·   a change in orientation of the study, which was originally oriented to the value, change the orientation on the process and outcome,
·      in learning, teachers function more as an educator, facilitator, and dynamist,
·      contact between teachers and students also must be closer, and
·      etc.

Pembudayaan Matematika di Sekolah
Untuk Mencapai Keunggulan Bangsa
By Dr. Marsigit, M.A

Acculturation of mathematics in school can begin by defining the nature of mathematics, where the cultivation of learning mathematics has implications for the function of the teacher as facilitator. Mathematics is not to be taught by teachers, but to be studied by students. Students as the central point of learning mathematics, and teachers are seen more as a manager rather than lecturer.
Then proceed with the civilizing hermenitika mathematics, where the basic elements of mathematics is a civilizing hermenitika communicate mathematical activity in various dimensions. Communication can be defined as various forms of vitality of relational potentials between subjects, subject-object, the object-subject-object or objects. The various mathematical communication consists of:
a.       Communication materials math,
b.      Formal communication of mathematics,
c.       Normative communication of mathematics, and
d.      Spiritual communication of mathematics.

In relation to the learning of mathematics, then mathematics would be better defined as a mathematical school. However, for the college level, mathematics is defined as formal or axiomatic mathematics. And finally, the acculturation of mathematics can contribute to the nation through innovation excellence learning of mathematics performed continuously
